Anyone who knows me understands that one of my favorite things to do is meet the entrepreneurs that I follow online. Whether I read their books and blogs, listen to their podcasts or simply believe in the work they do, it makes my day when I get to meet these people face to face.
Last year, while I was at a marketing event, I got to meet one of my favs, Marcus Sheridan, founder of The Sales Lion. In 2008, he transformed his struggling pool business after creating a content marketing strategy. Don’t know what that means? No problem, the New York Times article in which he was featured says it best with the title, A Revolutionary Marketing Strategy: Answer Customers’ Questions. He still laughs at the title, but this simple strategy worked to generate more leads online and ultimately grow his business.
His story received so much attention that he now speaks all over the country about inbound and content marketing. The presentation I saw him give at the conference was amazing and extremely informative. He is one of the most genuine guys I have ever met and the passion he has for helping small businesses is inspiring. I have learned so much from him and you know how much I love sharing what I know with you!
An interview with him live while at the conference didn’t work out, but when I asked if we could schedule a Skype interview, he was all for it.
During my interview with Marcus, we chat about the do’s and don’ts of content marketing, blogging, social media and more. We also discuss how online marketing has transformed the way people do business today. I’m excited to share this interview with you all, because it is packed with juicy content marketing tips.
Here’s the interview:
